A local organisation has announced a record breaking financial year, with more than $2 million in contributions.
The Geelong Community Foundation received the money over the last financial year.
Foundation CEO Gail Rogers said it was a great result, given the financial pressures many in the region had been facing.
“We still have many members of our community who do have the capacity to give,” Ms Rogers said.
“That is what is so touching – they do recognise the need that exists in our community.”
Foundation Chair Michael Betts also thanked the donors.
“By continuing to grow our permanent Foundation’s funds under management, we will distribute more grants to our community in the next financial year,” he said.
“Even in tough financial times Geelong keeps delivering.”
