A local school is one of 18 across Victoria to be hit with a private school payroll tax.
Modelling has found Kardinina International College could be forced to pay the tax by 2029.
Geelong Grammar is set to be hit by the levy by the middle of next year.
It has already raised fees for 2024, blaming the payroll tax, which was introduced by the Victorian Government in this year’s budget.
The school was one of almost 60 that was initially listed by the government as being liable to pay the tx.
The Victorian opposition says having another 18 schools will raise another $26.9 million dollars.
However, Shadow Education Minister Jess Wilson said it was students and families that would suffer.
“The only way these schools will be able to meet the tax is to either cut programs, or cut staff or put up their fees,” Ms Wilson said.
“At a time families can least afford it, because this school tax is hitting them.”
