A man has been arrested after crashing an allegedly stolen vehicle in Mount Duneed on Friday morning.
Police say they spotted the driver near Donnybrook Road in Norlane around 8am when he sped off on officers, causing them to lose eventually sight of the Holden Commodore near Church Street.
The Holden was again seen at a high speed a short time later on Mount Pleasant Road, where police chased the driver through Armstrong Creek.
Pursuing officers say the man reached speeds of more than 150km/hr in the vicinity of Buchanan Avenue, where a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed.
The vehicle continued driving on the wrong side of Warralily Boulevard, before crashing at the intersection of Main Street and the Surf Coast Highway in Mount Duneed.
A man was swiftly arrested at the scene and will be interviewed by police.
It’s understood the Holden was stolen from a Geelong East address last week.
