Geelong Athletics has warned local athletes not to use the John Landy Athletics Field as the final steps are taken on upgrades.
In a social media post the organisation said that two athletes had been caught using the track despite it not being ready for use.
They’ve warned athletes that further incidents would have to be reported to the police.
“We know are all eager to get back to the track however, you must respect the process,” a social media post said.
“This matter has been reported and future breaches will be reported to the police.
“This is disappointing and we hope no further instance like this occur as it impacts everyone in our community.
“We will keep you posted as to the progress of the track completion.”
More than 50 tonnes of recycled rubber is being used to re-surface the track during the $1.5million renewal project.
