Avalon still waiting for international flights

Premier Jacinta Allan says her government is constantly talking with Avalon Airport on how it can help attract international flights.

There has been no international flights out of Avalon for several years, after AirAsia left during the pandemic in 2020.

The local airport is still continuing talks with several parties.

The Premier said it was not just the airport itself where there were job opportunities.

“There’s also significant additional investment in terms of the jobs that are there every single day,” she said.

“In terms of the industrial activity around the airport.

“I know that they (airport management) are always keen to see more flights come into Avalon, more activity at Avalon.

“My colleagues are as well because that also means great activity for Geelong.”
