Liberal candidate for Corangamite Darcy Dunstan has committed $2-million for a bike path connecting the Surf Coast and Geelong.
The local candidate said the path will be built alongside Horseshoe Bend Road between Torquay and Armstrong Creek, if the Coalition wins the upcoming Federal Election.
“I’ve heard from lots of people who cycle along Horseshoe Bend Road that this stretch of road can be dangerous for even the most experienced riders,” Mr Dunstan said.
“This investment will provide a dedicated, separated bike lane along Horseshoe Bend Road all the way from South Beach Road in Torquay to Warralily Boulevard in Armstrong Creek.”
The commitment comes as early voting centres open up across the region following the Easter long weekend and school holidays.
Early polling options have become increasingly popular during recent elections, a number of centres open locally include across Geelong, Torquay and Ocean Grove.
The Australian Electoral Commission anticipates around a third of Aussies will vote early.
