The homicide squad is investigating the death of a man whose body has been found at the base of a high rise-hotel in Werribee.
Police were responding to an incident at the scene around 10.30pm on Thursday night when they came across the man, who had suffered severe injuries.
Officers performed CPR until paramedics arrived, but but the man could not be revived.
Police had been called to the area after a van that sped off from officers earlier in the night was seen entering the building’s underground carpark.
It’s believed the van may be linked to an aggravated carjacking at Hoppers Crossing on Sunday.
Investigations into the death are being conducted with oversight from Professional Standard Command, in accordance with standard procedures when a death occurs in the presence of police.
