A community meeting is being held in Lara, with a focus on the future of Serendip Sanctuary.
There are renewed calls for the Victorian government to ensure animals are returned to the sanctuary.
Many rare and endangered species and enclosures have been removed.
Barry White from Lara Care Group said residents want Lara MP Ella George to send a strong message to the government that people wanted wildlife back.
“Very much the key issue we want to discuss is the wildlife experience at Serendip and how it can be reinstated,” he said.
“Without the wildlife, Serendip’s attraction and value is really detracted from.”
Labor promised $11 million towards a You Yangs Master Plan before last year’s state election, which was to include Serendip.
The meeting is being held at Lara Community Centre Hall from 7.30pm tonight.
