It’s been revealed CFA volunteer numbers have dropped by close to 10,000 in a decade.
The number in June 2024 dropped to roughly 29 thousand from nearly 37 thousand a decade earlier.
The figures come from a Productivity Commission report into government services .

The exact numbers show that since 2014 numbers had decreased from 36,823 to a low of 28,906 in June of last year.
It adds to concerns for both our volunteer and professional fire brigades across the region.
It’s recently been revealed Werribee’s professional brigade has just one truck for 340,000 people.
