The driver of an allegedly stolen car who hit a police vehicle and knocked over an officer on Saturday has been charged.
The driver and their passenger attempted to flee after being located by police on Sneydes Road at Point Cook, causing the incident.
The 21-year-old handed charges including assaulting police.
“The driver allegedly attempted to flee the scene, hit a police vehicle and struck a first constable, knocking him to the ground,” police said in a statement.
“The injured police officer was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.
“The 21-year-old driver has been charged with aggravated reckless exposure of police officer to risk by driving, assault police, recklessly cause injury, resist police, theft of motor vehicle, drive whilst disqualified and drug offences.”
