A council north east of Geelong could offer free snake removal from next summer.
Moorabool Shire councillor Rod Ward introduced a motion at Wednesday night’s meeting, asking the CEO to prepare a report on the provision of a snake removal service for residents.
He also proposed the council investigates the cost and possible options for the service as a trial for the 2024/25 summer.
The motion was carried.
Moorabool is home to reptiles including Eastern Tiger snakes, Copperheads and Eastern Brown snakes.
Wyndham Council already provides free snake removals, however Geelong residents needing a snake removed from their home have to pay a local snake catcher.
