Eight arrested near Point Cook

Police have made eight arrests after following two cars through Point Cook and Laverton North.

Two allegedly stolen vehicles – a Subaru and Kia – were tracked down by police after being seen driven erratically.

Police said in a statement stop sticks were used on Heaths Road, Hoppers Crossing immobilising the Subaru Impreza sedan about 12.15pm.

The vehicle then lost control, before four males attempted to flee police, wit three arrested on The Strand and another arrested in Central Park Avenue backyard.

“Air Wing then tracked the second car, a Kia Sorrento SUV, travelling on Fitzgerald Road, Laverton North just after 1pm,” the statement reads.

“Police smashed a window on the Kia before arresting all four occupants at the scene.

“Two civilian vehicles were impacted during the arrest however there were no reported injuries.

“The eight males, ranging in ages from 15-17 years old, are currently assisting police with their enquiries.”
