Construction on a new early parenting centre in North Geelong is due for completion this month.
The state government says the multi-million dollar Geelong Early Parenting Centre will open soon after, with local MP’s touring the venue last week.
“It’s going to support families with children up to four years of age, giving them expert care and advice when the need it most,” Lara MP Ella George said.
She and fellow local Labor MP’s Chris Couzens (Geelong) and Alison Marchant (Bellarine) inspected the site on Thursday (February 29), spruiking the centre as part of their government’s $148 million investment in to expansion of Victoria’s early parenting service network.
The facility is located within Barwon Health’s McKellar Centre and will help families with sleep support and settling, feeding and additional care for babies and toddlers with extra needs.
“The team at Barwon Health are well underway in terms of recruiting new staff to work in the centre and hopefully the centre will open in coming months,” Ms George said.
