More than $660,000 has been announced for a new Scout and Community Centre in Norlane West.

The money will be used to replace the original 70-year-old hall, which is outdated and inaccessible.

The upgrade includes a new multipurpose space with communal facilities including a kitchen and accessible toilets.

The project is being jointly funded by the federal government and Scouts Victoria.

Scouts group leader Kim Upston said the project would lead to essential new facilities.

“The hall has had a very long and well-loved life, it has seen lots of scouts go through its doors,” she said,.

“Sadly it has come to end of life.”
