New data suggests Geelong is experiencing the fastest job growth of all large Australian regional cities.City of Greater Geelong consulting partner .id Consulting has released new figures showing there are 135,500 jobs in the Geelong region, with 12,000 new jobs created in 2022 alone.
This is the fastest growth seen in records spanning 20 years.
Healthcare and Construction were two of the major industries behind the spike, with health alone creating almost 4,000 new jobs.
Geelong Mayor Trent Sullivan said the data proves Greater Geelong has become a leader in job creation.
“The diversification of our local economy, significant private and public investment, a growing number of major organisations calling Geelong home and population growth have increased the type and amount of employment opportunities available,” Mr. Sullivan said.
“More people are realising that not only does Greater Geelong have an enviable lifestyle and stunning natural environment, but there are competitive employment options in a range of fields.”
