Organisers of the Geelong Big Freeze say its an honour to continue the work of Neale Daniher.
The Big Freeze Geelong – which will be held on June 1 at St Mary’s – is our own contribution to the work of our new Australian of the Year
Daniher was named the Australian of the Year on Saturday for his years of tireless work to raise awareness and funds for research and treatment for MND.
Organiser Graeme Reid says he was an incredibly deserving winner.
“I think we all agree it was well overdue,” he said.
“Neale is a hero to all of us in Geelong, and all across the country. The work he has done for the FightMND cause has been incredible.
“The whole family were there, and they were just happy to be nominated, but to win this award is so fitting.”
Former Geelong mayor Peter Murrihy has already been announced as the first slider for this years event.
More sliders will be announced as we get closer to the event.
