Geelong’s ‘Corpse Flower’ has captured the attention of many across the region and beyond, drawing in visitors from as far as Alice Springs, Perth, and Sydney.

In total, over 20,000 people visited the plant’s first bloom at the Geelong Botanic Gardens, supporting local businesses and the economy along the way.

The City of Greater Geelong’s live stream has proved a popular option with people to travel such a distance, and with those unwilling to brave the smell.

The stream has garnered over 350,000 views from here and across the globe, and will continue running until the plant collapses.

The plant’s dormancy phase allows it to store energy for it’s next bloom.

This process takes between seven to ten years.

As the end nears, the Conservatory is returning to its usual opening hours, having remained opened 24 hours a day to give everyone their chance to see the flower.
