Investigations are underway following allegations of a homophobic slur being made in the GDFNL clash between Geelong West and Bell Post Hill at West Oval on Sunday.

AFL Barwon says an incident report is in the hands of the Geelong and District Football Netball League, who are now looking into the incident.

“AFL Barwon, along with the GDFNL, share a collective and unwavering stance that there is no place in the community for behaviour and actions that discriminate or vilify, and this includes all community football and netball competitions within the Barwon region,” a statement provided to K rock Football said.

“The GDFNL are promptly addressing the severe nature of the allegation and are addressing appropriately as a matter of priority.”

K rock Football is aware of the player alleged to have made the comment but has chosen not to reveal his identity at this stage.

The club the player is from will be spoken to by a GDFNL board member tomorrow (Tuesday) night.

Earlier this year, North Shore’s Cam Primmer was suspended for two matches for a comment made against Colac at Central Reserve.

Bell Post Hill won a low-scoring contest by five points.
