The Pier on Geelong’s waterfront has announced it will be shutting its doors just before Christmas.
The venue has been operating out of the iconic Cunningham Pier for around 15 years, revealing it will be changing hands next year after the commercial lease concludes on December 22.
The popular spot for weddings and functions took to social media to make the announcement on Thursday, with a spokesperson saying it marks the end of a ‘cherished era.’
“We want to take a moment to acknowledge and thank our exceptional team—past and present—who have made The Pier what it is today,” a Facebook post from the Pier Geelong team read.
“Your talent, dedication, and passion have shaped a space loved by so many.
“While this transition means our current team will be moving on to new opportunities, we are committed to supporting every staff member as they navigate their next steps.
“To our loyal customers: thank you for trusting us to host your weddings, celebrations, corporate events, and memorable dining experiences.
“We are proud to have been part of your stories and honoured to serve this community.
“Your support over the years has meant everything to us.
“As we reflect on this bittersweet moment, we hold our heads high, proud of what we’ve achieved together.
“While we don’t yet know what the future holds for this extraordinary venue, we hope it continues to bring joy to Geelong as it has for us.”
