WorkSafe is investigating the death of a worker at the Golden Plains Wind Farm project, north-west of Geelong.
The 36-year-old subcontractor was killed when he was crushed by a wind turbine fan at the Rokewood site on Monday morning.
Ronnie Hayden from the Australian Workers Union said the site was a shambles, and they had already raised safety concerns in recent days.
“There’s parts of this site that are just a shambles,” he said.
“Our delegates caught up with management only a week and a half ago, and said it was just dumb luck that nobody has died at work yet.
“And we’ve just run out of luck.”
Danny Nielsen from company Vestas was not commenting on those claims.
“Vestas meets with unions every single week and they discuss a broad range of matters,” he said.
“To my knowledge, this particular incident had not been discussed in any meeting.”
WorkSafe Minister Danny Pearson said it was a heartbreaking tragedy.
“Our thoughts are with the family of the worker as well as their workmates,” the minister said.
