A Lara man has been fined more than $1,500 for littering, after he tossed a lit cigarette from his truck.
A witness reported the incident in August 2023 while the driver was travelling on the Hamilton Highway at Fyansford.
EPA Victoria issued a fine of $769, and the man chose to take the case to court.

He pleaded not guilty, but the Magistrate found the charge was proven, although a conviction was not recorded.
The Lara man was then fined $100, and ordered to pay $1,411 for EPA’s legal fees, the grand total nearly double the original fine.
