Latest crime data revealed

The latest data from the Crime Statistics Agency has shown an 11.4% rise in criminal incidents in Greater Geelong.

The numbers reveal a total of 17,745 criminal incidents in the year to September 2024.

Of the 24,123 total offences recorded in this period, 48.8% resulted in arrest or summons, and 37.9% remained unsolved.

Outside of the centre of town, Norlane and Corio were second and third in the list of hotspot suburbs.

The Surf Coast saw an almost 12% increase in criminal incidents, with half of the region’s cases occurring in Torquay.

Almost half of the recorded offences for the year in this area went unsolved.

Theft was on the rise across the state, accounting for four of the top five offences to record the greatest year-on-year increase.
