Councillor Liz Pattison has been re-elected unopposed as Mayor of the Surf Coast Shire Council for another year.
Ms Pattison was appointed at the council’s special meeting on Tuesday night, with Councillor Mike Bodsworth re-elected as Deputy Mayor.
Ms Pattison, who first took over as Mayor from Libby Stapleton last year, said she’s grateful for the opportunity to represent the community for another 12 months.
“I think it’s really important we make local government accessible to everyone in our community,” she said.
“To do this we’ve taken some of council meetings into the community, this year we’ve done them at Winchelsea, Lorne and this month we’ll have one of our council meetings in Aireys Inlet.”
The Mayor also listed reconciliation with the Indigenous community, commitment to continuing to be a leader in addressing climate change and commitment to the region’s pools in Winchelsea and the planned Surf Coast Aquatic Centre in Torquay.
