A community information session is being held this week on a proposed Waste to Energy facility in Lara, while locals against the proposal are planning to rally.

Prospect Hill International wants to build the project on McManus Road.

It has already received a development licence from the EPA, but with strict conditions.

Separate regulatory approvals will be needed for the facility.

The company is planning to hold a series of information sessions at the Lara Golf Club on Wednesday afternoon.

However, locals against the project are planning to protest outside the facility.

Chaz Street from No Waste Incinerators in Lara and Greater Geelong said they wanted their voices to be heard, as they still had concerns over the proposal.

“We want our community and our environment protected from the toxic emissions that come out of these waste incinerator plants,” he said.

“Our plan is to be outside the golf club and to hold a peaceful rally.

“We will not disrupt the activity itself.”
