Lara residents are being warned of a person pretending to be a CFA member, selling fire extinguishers and fire blankets.
The local brigade has received reports of a person going door to door, saying they are raising money for the CFA and pressuring people to buy the products.
The brigade says the person has no connection to the CFA or the station, and it does not condone the person’s behaviour towards residents.
Lara CFA Captain Roger Buckle said it was a big concern.
“We don’t have anybody, and never do, sell fire extinguishers or fire blankets to the public in a door to door manner,” he said.
“We’ll never also press for someone to buy something.
“If Lara Fire Brigade does fundraising, it’s always done with a plan and a publicity campaign and with all the right permits.”
