Man arrested after hospital rampage

A man has been arrested after allegedly going on a rampage that sent a hospital in Geelong into a brief lockdown.

Police were called to University Hospital Geelong in Ryrie Street just after 9.30am on Saturday, after receiving reports of a person behaving violently.

They arrived to find around 10 windows and doors had been damaged.

The hospital was placed in lockdown while police contained the situation.

Officers were forced to use capsicum spray before taking a man into custody.

On Sunday morning police said a 40-year-old from Norlane was still assisting with their inquiries.

No-one was injured.
