A man has been arrested for evading police in Hoppers Crossing.
Officers noticed a white ute with false number plates speeding and crossing onto the wrong of Derrimut Road in the early hours of this morning.
They believe the ute may have been doing up to 130km/h in a 60km/h zone.
The police helicopter was called in to track the vehicle, while officers on the ground used stop sticks on Tarneit Road.
The driver lost control of the ute while trying to avoid the devices, crashing into the front of a restaurant.
A 29-year-old from Werribee was arrested a short time later with the help of the dog squad after running off.
He has been taken to hospital to be assessed, and is expected to be interviewed later today/
