A man has been rescued from a small island in Cowie Creek after running from police in North Geelong.
Officers were called to reports of a man with a torch near an automotive business on Thomson Road just before 2am.
He took off and waded into the water at Cowie Creek nearby.

The dog squad helped local officers cordoned off the area, while the police helicopter spotted the man stranded on the small island.
He refused to come back to shore before the Water Police rescued the 28-year-old, who was found to have a medical condition.
Paramedics treated the man at the scene.
Officers say there had been no crime.
