Marles makes commitment to North Shore

Corio MP Richard Marles says North Shore plays an essential role for the community through sport.

The deputy PM committing four million dollars for upgrades to Windsor Park if Labor is re-elected.

The facility is home North Shore’s football, netball and cricket club.

He says the club is essential to the northern suburbs.

Before making the announcement on Saturday, Marles hinted at the news for the club and facility on Friday night.

“North Shire is a really important club in terms of the GFL,” he said.

“It has incredible history – obviously it’s had its challenges of late – but it’s won the most premierships in the competition.

“It also plays an incredibly important role in the region.

“What it does for people in the Northern Suburbs is profoundly important.

“Community sport is so empowering, and North Shore is right at the heart of that.”
