Mobile connectivity across the region could be set for a boost under the latest Coalition election pledge.

Liberal candidate for Corangamite Darcy Dunstan has announced $1.3 million for improved telecommunications across the region.

The funding would be particularly focused on solving black spot issues in Drysdale, Curlewis and Armstrong Creek, through new towers and mobile base stations.

“When I call my mum in Clifton Springs, half the time she has to walk outside. I can’t even speak to her,” Mr Dunstan said.

“It’s not just my mum, it’s most residents across the Bellarine, some in Armstrong Creek. It’s unacceptable.”

The local Liberals member described the announcement as essential for the growing community.

“It has to be a priority. If we want to stop congestion in the city, in Melbourne, which they always talk about, then we need to provide infrastructure for our region, and provide for our residents, because we are growing just as fast,” Mr Dunstan said.
