Victorian underworld figure Tony Mokbel will walk free today, granted bail after 18 years in prison on multiple drug convictions.
A court of appeal has ruled Mokbel, who was serving his sentence in Barwon Prison while appealing a series of charges as part of the Lawyer X scandal , can be released due to extraordinary circumstances.

He will live in suburban Viewbank with his sister under strict and tight conditions.
The 59-year-old WAS sentenced to 26 years for his role in Melbourne’s gangland wars of the 90’s, but was only jailed in 2007 after fleeing the country while on trial and living undercover in Greece for more than a year.
