A new reverse vending machine has opened in Curlewis, as part of Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme.
Located at Bayview Central, the system allows locals to drop off eligible drink containers.
In exchange, people receive digital payment or retail vouchers, with the option to instead donate to local charities.
In the Geelong region, a number of organisations have partnered with the scheme for fundraising, including Feed Me, The Bellarine Railway, and Geelong Mums.
Geelong falls in the Vic West Zone, which is operated by TOMRA Cleanaway.
To date, the zone has collected more than 585 million containers, in exchange for over $58 million.
