New kinder fast-tracked

Plans for a community hub and kindergarten in Armstrong Creek have been brought forward by three years, after a Victorian government funding commitment.

Geelong council announcing it had received a grant from the state government for a three-room modular kinder, with council revealing a $3.5 million commitment in the draft budget.

The project is now set be completed next year, with the latest funding commitment fast-tracking the delivery by three years from the original delivery date of 2029.

The kinder on Warralilly Boulevard on will open up spaces for 99 children.

Greater Geelong Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM thanked the Victorian Government for seeing the project’s value.

“We are thrilled to receive this grant from the Victorian School Building Authority as it means Warralily residents will have a kindergarten and community hub three years sooner than planned,” Mayor Kontelj said.

“Council’s co-contribution will fund additional items, including a multipurpose community room, more consulting spaces, larger kinder outdoor play areas and 17 extra carparks.

“We can’t wait to see the modular Bloinks Community Hub (interim name) up and running in 2026 next to Warralily Park Primary School.”

Modular kindergartens are constructed in a factory in sections called ‘modules’.

The modules are then assembled onsite and connected to utilities, before outdoor areas and other works are completed.
