Wyndham Council is teaming up with V/Line to ensure commuters are sticking to parking signs and restrictions around the two local train stations.

The city will be enforcing parking restrictions around Wyndham Vale and Tarneit stations, with temporary signs put up to warn people of the new measures.

A two-week grace period is now underway before fines will be issued.

Officers will be focussing on issues including double parking, stopping in a no-standing zone and parking on nature strips.

Amanda Smith from the council said working with V/Line had been essential in addressing parking challenges.

There’ll be a two-week grace period before fines are handed out to those doing the wrong thing in and around the Wyndham Vale and Tarneit station car parks.

“Our priority is to ensure parking around the Wyndham Vale and Tarneit train stations is orderly and accessible and by enforcing these regulations, we aim to enhance the commuting experience for everyone,” she said.

“Our aim is not just to enforce the rules but to educate the public and promote long-term compliance.”

Parking on public roads will also be targeted, with some drivers being too close to intersections, while some vehicles had been parked the wrong direction.
