Plea for witnesses after Geelong cyclist death

Police are continuing their investigation into the death of a Geelong cyclist who was hit by a truck in Wyndham.

The 49-year-old, whose name has not been released, was killed when he collided with a semi-trailer at the corner of Leakes and Derrimut Roads in Tarneit, at around 10.15am on Tuesday.

It’s understood the man, whose name has not been released, was from Breakwater.

The truck driver stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their inquiries.

69 lives have been lost on Victorian roads this year, eight fewer than at the same time in 2023.

Four of those fatakities have been cyclists, the same as this time last year and one fewer than at this time in 2022.
