Local police are warning they will continue to crackdown on drink driving and other road offences over the Christmas break.
Traffic is expected to be busy across Geelong and the Surf Coast as locals and tourists head away for the holidays.
Police say a man was allegedly caught almost four times the blood alcohol limit in Waurn Ponds early Sunday morning.
The 50-year-old allegedly blew 0.181, having his licence suspended and his car impounded.
Several other vehicles were impounded over the weekend as part of Operation Roadwise, including a 19yo man who was caught doing burnouts on Hearne Parade, Geelong.
Assistant Commissioner Glenn Weir has made no apology for police making their presence felt across Victoria.
“There’ll be lots of highly visible policing, lots of alcohol and drug testing,” he said.
“It may cause some congestion, it may cause people to be held up, but people just have to put up with that.”
Operation Roadwise ends on January 1.
