Organisers are expecting a big day both on and off the field at today’s Geelong Cup.
Gates open at 11am at the Geelong Racecourse for the nine-race card.
The Geelong Cup is being run at 4pm, with First Immortal the early favourite.
Luke Rayner from the Geelong Racing Club said a little bit of weather would not be enough to dampen spirits.
“We certainly hope that people come out and have a great day,” he said.
“They’ll have to rug up, there’s no doubt it’s not going to be the warmest of days.
“But there’s plenty of alternatives for everyone.”
Punters are also being advised of limited parking due to works happening around the race course.
However, not everyone heading to the Cup will be there to celebrate.
The Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses will be protesting outside the main entrance today.
The group says it wants racegoers to see the truth behind the trade.
