Works are underway to upgrade a busy Wyndham intersection, used by more than 40,000 vehicles each day.

The $19.2 million project will see improvements of the corner of Point Cook and Sneydes roads in Point Cook.

That will include new traffic lights, pedestrians crossing and duplicated lanes.

Drivers are being advised there will be delays and detours during the works.

It should be completed by the end of the year, weather permitting.
