A driver has died in a crash at Werribee South.
Emergency services were called to reports a car had hit a parked truck on Diggers Road around 2pm Wednesday, before catching fire.
Fire crews put out the flames, but the motorist, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
Anyone with information or footage is being urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A motorcyclist was also killed in a crash at Ripplebrooke in Gippsland on Wednesday, marking a sad start to 2025 on Victoria’s roads.
Police say 282 people died on the roads across the state in 2024, which is 13 less than in 2023.
There were 149 lives lost on regional roads, while 133 people were killed on metropolitan roads.
Worryingly, police say 20 people killed in vehicle collisions last year were not wearing a seatbelt.
