Road safety barriers will be installed on sections of the Bellarine Highway.
The $8.58 million upgrade will see the barriers installed between Moolap and Wallington.
It will also see the removal of right-turn traffic from Swan Bay Road in Wallington, so drivers can cross the Bellarine Higway in separate movements.
There have been at least 24 crashes on sections of the highway in the last five years, while a driver was killed in a collision with a truck at Wallington in 2023.
Member for Bellarine Alison Marchant said more than 35,000 people use the road each day.
“The investment in safety barriers along the highway will help in keeping our community and road users safe,” she said.
