Relief for a Mount Duneed family, after 11-year-old boy Toby was found following a large scale search across the Surf Coast on Monday evening.
Police say Toby ran from a car on the Great Ocean Road opposite an Anglesea service station around 2.30pm, with confirmation on Tuesday he was found several hours later about 10km away in Fairhaven.
He was assessed by paramedics at the scene at around 11.30pm, with police saying Toby is safe and well.
His disappearance sparked a large-scale search involving the police helicopter and SES volunteers, who scoured bushland near the Anglesea River.
Police said Toby has autism, with his family saying when he disappeared that he may have been ‘hiding’.
The missing report prompted a massive response on social media around 6pm Monday night, with Toby’s image widely shared across community groups on several platforms.
Police have thanked the community for their response and help in tracking him down.
