A blue green algae bloom off Torquay front beach that prompted warnings for people not swim at the beach has now dispersed.
The department of environment detected algae in waters off Cosy Corner on Friday, prompting a health advice alert that remained for much of Sunday as temperatures climbed in to the 30’s.
Authorities warned people of the risk of reactions to the algae if they were to come into contact with it, or swallow contaminated water.

As of just before 4:00pm yesterday, the water quality warning was lifted and the beach cleared for swimmers.
