Track fault causing major delays

A track fault near Marshall has caused major disruptions for commuters throughout Thursday morning, with buses replacing train and boomgates down during peak hour traffic.

V/Line says it’s working on fixing the fault between Waurn Ponds and South Geelong stations, with the boomgates remaining down at the Torquay Rd. and Reserve Rd .level crossings in Grovedale.

Police have been in the area diverting traffic which has caused massive delays for drivers throughout the morning.

At this stage V/Line says the morning services travelling to and from Southern Cross will originate and terminate in South Geelong.

“Coaches are replacing trains between Waurn Ponds and South Geelong due to a broken rail at Marshall,” a statement from V/Line said.

“We are assessing the situation and will advise when trains will resume.”

Drivers are urged to continue avoiding Torquay Rd through Grovedale with traffic banking up around the area.
