A day nearly 40 years in the making as Geelong United makes its WNBL debut tonight.
United will take on the Townsville Fire to open their campaign for 2024.
It’s the first time a Geelong side has appeared in the WNBL since the Cats in 1986, and the first time in a top flight league since the men’s Supercats in the NBL in 1996.
United player Hannah Hank recently telling Geelong Broadcasters said the team was well prepared.
“We’ve got all of our pieces here now,” she said.
“And we fell like we’ve really gelled well together across our pre-season. We can’t wait to get out there.”
The club and Geelong Broadcasters last week announced a partnership for the 2024/25 season.
