Victoria has been rattled by another minor earthquake, the fourth in three days.
Wednesday morning’s tremor, which reached a magnitude of 2.6, struck just off Phillip Island at approximately 12.45am on Wednesday.
It comes after a strong 5.0 quake shook the city of Colac in the early hours of Sunday morning, sending stock flying from store shelves and shaking residents awake.
Sunday’s was followed about one hour later by an aftershock near Apollo Bay that registered a magnitude of 3.5.
On Monday afternoon the coastal town was hit by a second aftershock measuring 3.17.
Many Geelong residents reported being woken by the Sunday morning quake, which was felt as far off as Tasmania.
Wednesday morning’s tremor was centred in Bass Strait 23km south of Phillip Island at a depth of approximately 3km.
It’s the fourth quake to strike that region this year.
