A community vigil will be held this weekend to remember two children killed in a horrific shed fire in Corio.

Siblings Saige, 3, and Ashlynn, 18 months, died after becoming trapped in the burning structure in Officer Court on Sunday morning.

Their older sister Mavis, 6, and brother Isaac, 4, are in a critical condition with severe burns after surviving the fire.

The children’s father, Kane McGregor, said the children’s mother pulled Mavis from the shed, and found Isaac trying to shelter Ashlynn and Saige from the flames.

“Isaac had the other two huddled under him, so that they didn’t burn,” he told media.

“At least they went quick and didn’t suffer.”

Mr McGregor said he was heartbroken.

“Every day they were so growing up, they had so much life, I’m just shattered.”

A GoFundMe page set up to assist the family has raised more than $52,000 in just over two days.

Saturday’s vigil will commence at 8pm at Rosewell Reserve, Corio.

A post on Facebook invited people who plan to attend are invited to bring flowers, LED/battery operated candles, teddy bears and pink or blue balloons in memory of the children.
