A girl has died and several others have been been rescued at an Ocean Grove beach.
Emergency services were called to Collendina just after 6pm Tuesday to reports two 12-year-old girls got into difficulty in the water.
A passerby entered the water and was able to rescue one of the girls and bring her to shore.

The police chopper helped returned the second girl to the beach where CPR was performed.
Sadly, she died at the scene.
Ambulance Victoria says a man, woman and another young girl were taken to hospital, all in a stable condition.
It the first drowning in the Geelong region since last Summer.
