Reija Reijnhout took out first place in the women's Cadel Evans Road Race, with Dominika Wlodarczyk in second and Cecilie Uttrip Ludwig in third (CADEL EVANS ROAD RACE).

Dutch rider Rosita Reijnhout says she was still questioning her win when she crossed the finish line in the women’s leg of the Cadel Evans Road Race.

The 19-year-old completed the 143km race in 3:53:31m, ahead of Poland’s Dominika Wlodarczyk in second, and fellow Dane Cecilie Uttrip Ludwig in third.

It’s Reijnhout’s first major cycling competition win, one that after the race she was still coming to terms with.

“I just go and go and go and at the end I just…won,” she said.

“I don’t believe it, when I finished I ask everyone did I win, did I win?!”

“I’m really happy….I’m going to celebrate it when I’m home, it was also a really hard race,” she said of the course that took her and fellow riders from Geelong through Moriac, down to Bells Beach, through Torquay and Barwon Heads and back to Geelong.

The men’s race along the same course is on today, starting at 11:10am.
