Lawson Humphries’ impressive start to his AFL career has resulted in a Rising Star nomination in just his third game.

The 21-year-old was impressive in Geelong’s 20-point win over Collingwood, gathering 23 possessions and taking 13 marks.

Drafted by the Cats from WAFL club Swan Districts with pick 63 in last year’s National Draft, he debuted in the Round 16 win over Essendon.

Humphries is Geelong’s second Rising Star nominee this season, following Ollie Dempsey’s nomination in round one.

It’s the first time the Cats have had two nominees in one year since 2019, when Gryan Miers and Charlie Constable earned nods.
