Geelong forward Gryan Miers says the side’s full of confidence as the Cats look to secure a spot inside the top four.

It’s one of the closest finishes to a season in the league’s history, and Miers says he’s embracing the challenge.

“That’s the fun of footy,” he said.

“Anyone can win on their day, and that’s really exciting.

“I don’t think over the next month or two months anyone can really predict what’s going to happen.

“So it’s up to us to enjoy it and try and get it right, why can’t it be us?”

It’s been a busy few weeks in the Cattery with the impending retirement of Tom Hawkins.

It’s unclear if his injury situation will allow him one final game in front of a home crowd.

But Miers says it hasn’t really sunk into the playing group, and probably won’t until the season ends.

“It will feel very weird when he leaves,” he said.

“He’s still been at the club every day preparing and helping the boys, so you don’t feel it.

“But like with Joel (Selwood) and a few others, you’re really going to feel it when he’s gone.”
